Periodicals

The journal Sociologija. Mintis ir veiksmas (Sociology. Thought and Action) was established in 1997. It is published in cooperation with the Department of Sociology at Vilnius University, the Centre for Studies of Social Change at Klaipėda University, and the Lithuanian Sociological Association.

Editor-in-Chief: Dr. Liutauras Kraniauskas.

Scope: Sociologija. Mintis ir veiksmas is an academic journal that critically analyzes contemporary societal and cultural changes, the development of social theory, and the changing self-understanding of sociology. While the dominant themes are social theory and the methodological premises of social knowledge, the journal also covers political sociology, gender studies, nationalism, sociology of art, social stratification, criminology, and social identity. To foster academic dialogue and interdisciplinary connections, the journal publishes not only sociological research but also studies in social psychology, philosophy, history, political science, and anthropology. Recently published original sociological books and their translations are also subject to comprehensive and critical reviews. Approximately 15% of the journal’s content is written by foreign authors in English.

Publication Frequency: Two volumes per year.

Languages: Articles are published in Lithuanian and English.

Fees: There are no submission or publication fees for authors.

Initiatives and Memberships:

  • Initiative for Open Citations (i4OC): The journal is a member of this multi-stakeholder project dedicated to the open dissemination of scientific citation data to create new and improved metrics.

  • Initiative for Open Abstracts (I4OA): As a member, the journal collaborates with publishers, infrastructure organizations, librarians, and researchers to promote the unrestricted availability of abstracts for journal articles and book chapters in reliable repositories, where they can be accessed by information search algorithms.

  • Open Archives Initiative (OAI): The journal participates in the OAI protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) to ensure interoperability between repositories.

The journal Filosofija. Sociologija (Philosophy. Sociology) has been published since 1990. Two issues per year are dedicated to philosophy, and two issues are dedicated to sociology. The journal is published by the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.

The periodical Lietuvos socialinė raida (Social Development of Lithuania) is a peer-reviewed scientific publication published by the Institute of Sociology at the Lithuanian Social Sciences Centre, dedicated to the analysis and evaluation of the most relevant social processes in Lithuania.

It has been published since 2012, with one issue released annually.
