On May 15, 2026, the Baltic regional conference “Baltic Readings 2026” was held. The event was organized by the Lithuanian Sociological Association in cooperation with the Institute of Sociology at the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences and the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.
This conference marks the continuation of long-standing cooperation among sociologists from the Baltic countries. The “Baltic Readings” tradition, which had thrived for many years, was interrupted for a period of time and has been revived this year through the initiative of the Lithuanian Sociological Association.
“Baltic Readings 2026” hosted Dr. Kaja Gadowska, President of the European Sociological Association, who delivered a keynote speech on academic freedom in Europe. The event also welcomed Dr. Elina Oinas, Vice-President of the International Sociological Association, alongside the presidents of the sociological associations of all three Baltic states: Dr. Anu Masso, Dr. Renārs Felcis, and Dr. Diana Janušauskienė.
Sociologists from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Sweden participated and presented their research.
